STUDENT JOB: Technical Producer/Usability/QA Lead

We’re adding to our team!

We seek students of any rank or discipline who can start immediately and commit to Fall and Spring (Summer and beyond is a bonus qualification). The position is funded by a grant from the National Institutes of Health. Our team is developing a digital K-12 critical literacy curriculum to combat racism. We need a student who will be part of the testing and data collection pipeline for the co-design, usability testing, and pilot testing phase for the app and VR components of the curriculum, including remote data collection.

Applicants must demonstrate the following:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, proactive, mature, and professional behavior.
  • Strong observational skills during co-design and usability sessions.
  • Prior experience setting up technical workflows, documentation, hardware, and software troubleshooting.
  • Graduation date not before May 2025.

Priority will be given to candidates with at least one of the following:

  • Cultural competence through previous work experience with Black and/or Latine communities AND/OR coursework in Ethnic, Black, Gender studies, or similar social justice-oriented topics.
  • Prior experience working with adolescents or children.
  • Prior experience with virtual reality technology.

Pay starts at $25 per hour for 15-20 hours per week during Spring/Fall. Summer work is available for up to 40 hours per week.

Candidates must pass a background check and take online training in human subjects research, data privacy, and working with minors (6-8 paid hours). We require some availability on weekends (1-2 weekends per month), weekend off-site travel to Detroit (once per month max), and evening work (2-3 times per week).
